Синтезатор тут вспомнился вовсе не случайно. Оркестр и хор Джеймса Ласта - монстр 60-х. Такого рода оркестров было много (скажем, оркестры Рея Кониффа и Поля Мориа, или соул-оркестр Квинси Джонса). Эти оркестры в массе своей не смогли пережить эпоху диско. Диско отменило и переформатировало всю предыдущую поп-музыку, по крайней мере, ее самую мэйнстримную часть. В эпоху диско большие оркестры стали неподъемной и ненужной роскошью. Джеймс Ласт во время диско-бума на дно, как Титаник, не пошел, хотя его саунд стал вялым и неинтересным, а имя Джеймса Ласта эксплуатировалось уже как торговая марка. Выживание Джеймса Ласта, наверное, объясняется тем, что его саунд и в целом подход были предтечей диско, Джеймс Ласт был идеологически совместим с диско.
